Steven Vella 49, Monroe was arrested by Patrolman William Kelly.  Vella turned himself in at Spring Lake Police Headquarters.  Vella was charged with contempt of court.

Seeking Help / Information Needed The Spring Lake Seeking Help / Information Needed

The Spring Lake Police Department is seeking assistance with an accident.  On Friday, August 12, 2022, at 9:42 am, an accident involving a bicyclist occurred on Ocean Avenue near the intersection of Morris Avenue in Spring Lake.  As a result, the cyclist sustained serious bodily injuries.  We are seeking witnesses to the accident.  Additionally, we are seeking the operator of the vehicle pictured in this post, thought to be a dark-colored Acura SUV.  The preliminary investigation does not believe this vehicle struck the cyclist but was in the area when the accident occurred and may have information.

Tuesday night the newest member of the Spring Lake Tuesday night the newest member of the Spring Lake Police Department was sworn in by Mayor Jennifer Naughton. Patrolman Julia Cutolo will begin serving the community immediately, taking the place of retiring Sergeant Patrick Gilroy. Best of luck to both!

 On May 28, 2022 many roads in the Borough wil 

On May 28, 2022 many roads in the Borough will be closed for the Spring Lake 5 Mile Run (see below for course map). The race begins at 8 AM and many roads will be closed shortly before that time.  Parking is also prohibited on the following streets due to the race:

All of Ocean Avenue 

North Boulevard from Ocean Avenue to Main Street - Belmar/Lake Como

Third Avenue from Lake Como to Passaic Avenue

Third Avenue in the Business District

Warren Avenue from Third Avenue to Fifth Avenue

Fifth Avenue between Passaic Avenue and Warren Avenue

Warren Avenue & West Lake Avenue from Fifth Avenue to Second Avenue

Second Avenue from West Lake Drive to Brown Avenue 

All of Brown Avenue

Any vehicle parked in those areas will be ticketed and towed. The overnight parking ordinance will not be enforced on Friday, May 27th (Friday night into Saturday morning, 5/28/22). If you need to leave the Borough anytime in the morning, we suggest you park your vehicle on a street west of the race course to make it easier to leave town.

Normal traffic patterns and parking regulations will resume at noon on Saturday, May 28, 2022 Thank you for your cooperation and have a safe weekend.

BAGS & BACKPACKS ARE PROHIBITED AND SUBJECT TO SEARCH
On May 27th, the Friends of Spring Lake 5 will be On May 27th, the Friends of Spring Lake 5 will be hosting the Spring Lake 5's Kids Race.  The event is held on Ocean Avenue near the area of the South End Pavilion. The event is open to children up to 14 years of age.

For more information on the event,  go to the Spring Lake 5 website and look for the Kid's Race link.

Ocean Avenue will be closed to traffic and parking from Sussex Avenue south to Sea Girt boarder for the Kids Race.

Possessing an alcoholic beverage in public is illegal and will be strictly enforced with a summons being issued.

ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SPECIAL OFFICER CLASS I ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SPECIAL OFFICER CLASS I - SUMMER 2022
 
The Spring Lake Police Department is currently accepting applications for Class I Special Officers. Special Officer Class I are hired to assist with the beach front, Third Avenue Business District and various events during the summer season.

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

Must be a citizen of the United States

Must be at least 18 years of age

A minimum of a high school diploma or a GED equivalent

Must be able read, write and speak the English language

Must be in good health and be able to perform the physical demands of the duties assigned

Must be of good moral character and shall not have been convicted of any crime or offense involving moral turpitude or dishonesty that would make him/her unfit to perform the duties of police officer

Selected applicants will be sent to the Monmouth County Police Academy to take part in a mandatory two week training for the position in early May 2022.

  1. Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on Third Avenue in the area of Pitney Avenue, Justin Cancelliere 21, Jackson was arrested by Patrolman Joseph Liddy, Cancelliere was charged with driving while intoxicated as well as several other motor vehicle offenses.

  2. Subsequent to an investigation, Nicole Diana was arrested by Patrolman James Heine. Diana was charged with one count of forgery and one count of theft. The charges stem from an investigation into an incident from January 6, 2022. Detective Sergeant Christopher Kucinski assisted in the investigation.

    Patrolman Joseph Liddy received a report of harassment from a victim in the area of Marucci Park.
