MS Coast the Coast Bike Ride

On May 16th, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will host it’s annual Coast the Coast Bike Ride throughout NJ.  One of these events will begin in West Long Branch and travel through Spring Lake.  Participants are riding to raise money for the National MS Society.  Although there are no particular closing of roads please be mindful of the riders throughout the day.

Spring Lake Irish Festival

On May 16th, the Greater Spring Lake Chamber of Commerce is hosting an Irish Festival.  From 12 pm to 4 pm at Third & Morris Avenues, Spring Lake.

 The event will feature Live bands, a beer garden, Morris Avenue Food Court, Meet & Greet with Jets and Giants Stars,  Kid’s Activities, Irish Step Dancers and much more.  See event flyer below for further details.

 Rain Date for the Event is May 17th.

Morris Avenue from Third Avenue to Fourth Avenue (the 300 block) will be closed to traffic and parking.  Any vehicles parked in the block must be moved by 8:00 am on May 16, 2015.

 

National Walk/Bike to School

On May 6th H.W. Mountz School will be participating in National Bike / Walk to School Event.  Students are encouraged to walk safely or ride bike (with a helmet) to school.

** NOTICE **

Tuttle Avenue between Fourth Avenue and Fifth Avenue (the front of the school) will be closed to vehicle traffic both in the morning and the afternoon for the event.

On or about April 29th till approximately May 12th, Ocean Road between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue (Spring Lake Heights) and Warren Avenue between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue (Spring Lake Heights) will be closed due to construction on Railroad Crossings at each of the intersections.

Traffic for Warren Avenue will be diverted to Monmouth Avenue crossing

Some of the construction will be completed on Saturdays during the construction period.

 

Touch-a-Truck

On Saturday April 25, 2015 the Wall Township Recreation Department, along with the Make-a-Wish Foundation of New Jersey will host it’s 5th annual Touch-a-Truck Event.  The event will be held at the Wall Township Municipal Complex (2700 Allaire Road, Wall) from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.  The day will feature an assortment of vehicles including cranes, dump trucks, race cars, fire engines, helicopter, and police vehicles.  

Come on out to this wonderful event and stop by to check out the Spring Lake Police vehicle.

Shark River Surf Anglers – Children’s Trout Contest

Ice Skating

UPDATE 3/4/15

AS OF THIS DATE THE LAKE IS DEEMED UNSAFE FOR ACTIVITY. PLEASE STAY OFF!

 Once again it’s time to skate!  The Borough has checked the ice and once again deemed it safe for activity.  Because of the uneven ice in the area previously used we have moved the area open to activity.

Please do not skate in the area by the flagpole (Passaic Avenue).  Please use the are between the bridges that is sectioned off with rope.  See map below for an approximate area, outlined in green, that was cleared for activity.

Belmar / Lake Como St. Patrick’s Day Parade

On March 1, 2015 Belmar / Lake Como will host the 42nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  The parade will begin at 10:30 am from Third Avenue near Monroe Avenue.  Marchers, bands, emergency vehicles, as well as others will be marching down the crowd lined Main Street of Lake Como & Belmar in honor of St. Patrick.

* TRAFFIC ALERT *

Portions of Third Avenue, Monroe Avenue, and South Boulevard will be closed to traffic before and during the event.
